“But What if He Doesn’t Know He’s Hurting Me?”
This is the question I asked myself repeatedly during the darkest moments of my relationship.
“If he doesn’t know… maybe it’s not abuse?”
“If I can just wait for him… maybe he’ll change?”
I wanted so badly for the answer to mean something.
To give me a reason to stay.
To justify the pain I was swallowing day after day.
But here’s the truth I had to face:
👉 Abuse is still abuse even if they “didn’t know or mean it.”
👉 Even if they had a rough childhood.
👉 Even if they say they’re trying.
In this podcast clip, I open up about why we cling to that question and how it keeps us stuck.
I talk about the moment I stopped waiting for him to understand… and started choosing myself instead.
Because it’s not cruel to leave someone who keeps hurting you.
It’s courageous.
It’s necessary.
It’s allowed.
